On August 21, Rolls-Royce’s car manufacturing branch, Coachbuild, announced the next project in the “Tail” series. Called Droptail, the new super luxury car line has super limited production (4 cars) like its predecessors Sweptail (1 car) and Boat Tail (3 cars).
At this introduction, only the first car in the group appeared named La Rose Noire. The name and design of the car are inspired by the French rose Black Baccara. According to Rolls-Royce, this is the favorite flower of the mother in the family who ordered this masterpiece.
Unlike the previous Rolls-Royce Sweptail or Boat Tail, the Rolls-Royce Droptail does not use the Architecture of Luxury chassis similar to the Cullinan, Ghost or Phantom.
Instead, the car uses a new monoblock chassis made from steel, aluminum and carbon fiber. This factor alone means that the price of the car will be significantly different from the Boat Tail.
Although the chassis is newly crafted, under the hood is still Rolls-Royce’s signature 6.75L V12 engine with a capacity of 593 horsepower and 840Nm of torque. This heart allows the Rolls-Royce Droptail to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 5 seconds before reaching a maximum speed of 250 km/h.
In terms of design, there’s really no chance of confusing the Rolls-Royce Droptail with any other car from the British brand, because of its unique exterior.
The “traditional” front end with large chrome radiator comes with daytime lights and slim headlights. However, the smooth and soft side of the car gradually transitions to the rear area equipped with exclusive tail lights exclusively for Droptail.
The stylish spoiler here and the removable carbon fiber roof at the front are two other distinct features of this nameplate.
In addition, a special feature on the Rolls-Royce Droptail is that the red tones on the car’s exterior are specially crafted to look like black in the dark but brilliant when out in the light. Rolls-Royce does this by combining two different exclusive red tones that the company names True Love and Mystery.
The Rolls-Royce Droptail interior took two years to complete. This area has a sophisticated pattern simulating falling flower petals made up of 1,603 wooden pieces. The leather upholstery continues to use two special red tones that appear on the exterior.
In the center of the dashboard appears a unique watch ordered from Audemars Piguet with a watch face diameter of 43mm. Users can remove the watch with just one button to wear it outside anytime they want.
Finally, inside the cabin there is also an exclusive Rolls-Royce Champagne Chest, with glasses and trays custom-made according to the owner’s request.
Similar to Sweptail and Boat Tail, each Rolls-Royce Droptail has a different price and is not public.
However, according to Carscoops, each car of this type costs no less than 25 million USD – a number that is enough to immediately make the car the most expensive car in the world, surpassing Boat Tail’s own unofficial record.
