Famous for being one of the regions with the most supercars in the world, the police of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are not inferior to the rich here when equipping their officers with the fastest supercars in the world such as Lamborghini Aventador, Mclaren MP4-12C, Nissan GT-R, … or even the former speed king Bugatti Veyron. Besides the world famous supercars, the police of this country also use Lykan HyperSport, a domestically produced supercar, to serve the police force.
Lykan HyperSport is manufactured by W Motors, a supercar manufacturer in the UAE. When talking about this car, many people will immediately think of its flying through three skyscrapers in Fast & Furious 7. Not only did that scene cause a stir, Lykan HyperSport is also known for its car being encrusted with diamonds and precious stones inside the headlights and the interior is plated with gold. The encrusting of precious stones and gold makes the car cost up to 3.4 million dollars and the Dubai-based car company only produces 7 cars worldwide.
The Lykan HyperSport has a bold design with bold, angular cuts. The front of the car is designed similar to the previous Marussia B2 but more modern. The car’s headlights are split in two with the headlights above and the LED strip below. The car is designed with reverse-opening doors, similar to the “suicide” doors on Rolls-Royce but with upward hinges like many supercars on the market. At the rear, W Motors equips the Lykan HyperSport with a large active spoiler, which operates completely automatically depending on the vehicle’s operating conditions.
In the “patrol car” version, the Lykan HyperSport has the typical white-red paint color of the Abu Dhabi police. Inside, the car’s interior is covered in white-black leather similar to other cars. Finally, the car still has the typical police car signal lights installed on the roof.
The car is equipped with a 3.7-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six engine, producing a maximum capacity of 740 horsepower and a maximum torque of 960 Nm. This power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a 6-speed sequential gearbox (optional 7-speed PDK gearbox). The UAE’s $3.4 million supercar can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds, from 0 to 200 km/h in 9.4 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 395 km/h.
W Motors has now produced and sold all 7 Lykan HyperSports. This model has also been replaced by the Fenyr SuperSport. The younger Lykan supercar is more powerful and faster than its predecessor, but is also less “rare” with only 100 units produced, much higher than the 7 Lykan cars. The price of the younger Fenyr SuperSport supercar is also more “affordable” at only 1.9 million dollars.
Not only UAE uses supercars for the police force, many other countries have also used supercars such as Italy with Lamborghini Gallardo, Huracan or Ferrari 458 Spider. Germany with Porsche 911, BMW i8, … Korea uses Ferrari 360 Porsche 911 and Lamborghini Gallardo, … And many other supercars, sports cars such as Chevrolet Corvette, Camaro, Dodge Challenger, Lotus Evora, Ariel Atom, … are used as police cars around the world.
