According to Goal, the US Soccer Association will choose Inter Miami to represent the US Major League Soccer to compete in the 2025 Club World Cup.
From 2025, the Club World Cup will be played in a new format with 32 participating teams. FIFA plans to organize this tournament every 4 years instead of annually.
Representing MLS (Major League Soccer) at the 2025 Club World Cup is the Seattle Sounders, the 2022 CONCACAF Champions League champions. In addition, the US host will have the priority of having an additional team participating as a FIFA guest.
According to Goal, the US Soccer Association will choose Inter Miami because this team has superstar Messi. Messi’s presence will increase the image value of MLS as well as the Club World Cup. The player who won 8 Golden Balls is hunting for the 2024 MLS Cup with his teammates.
According to El Nacional (Spain), Messi is likely to leave Inter Miami after his contract expires at the end of 2025 and return to his boyhood club Newell’s Old Boys before retiring. This is making David Beckham somewhat worried.
Former English football star and co-chairman of Inter Miami, David Beckham, always hopes that Messi will continue to be with the team for a long time, at least until the end of 2026.
Messi spent five years of his childhood playing for the youth teams of Newell’s Old Boys from 1995 to 2000.
This is the launching pad club for names that became world football stars such as Gabriel Batistuta, Maxi Rodriguez, Lionel Scaloni, Marcelo Bielsa and of course world and Argentine football legend Diego Maradona.
