Ferrari recently won the top design award from Germany’s Red Dot association with the Ferrari Roma Spider model. The elegant 2+ mid-engine convertible with soft top won the Red Dot: Best of the Best award for design.
In addition, at the Red Dot Awards, two other Ferrari models were also honored: SF90 XX Stradale and KC23. The Red Dot Award is one of the most important awards in the world of design and aims to recognize the innovation and excellence of the best designers in the industry. This award is now in its 70th year and the honoring ceremony is scheduled to be held on June 24, 2024 in Essen, Germany.
Under the leadership of design director Flavio Manzoni, Ferrari is the most successful automaker in the history of this event, winning 29 Red Dot Awards in the past 10 years. Among these were the top 10 wins by models including the Daytona SP3, 488 GTB and Purosangue.
Ferrari removed the roof of the Roma coupe to create the 2024 Roma Spider – the successor to the Portofino M. This car model inherited the soft fabric roof design inspiration from the 365 GTS/4 model that created the premise. of a front-engined Ferrari with a fabric roof. Ferrari also stiffened the rear of the chassis and claims the Roma Spider weighs just 84kg more than the coupe. The soft top is woven with a special multi-layer fabric that can be opened and closed in just 13.5 seconds at speeds up to 60 km/h.
The heart of the 2024 Roma Spider has not changed, the car is still equipped with a turbocharged 3.9-liter V8 engine that produces 612 horsepower and 761 Nm of torque. This power is transmitted to the rear wheels through an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
