This “unbelievable” car model is the Morgan Plus Six. This is Morgan’s newest model since the Aero 8 was introduced 19 years ago! Despite the classic design of other Morgan models, the Plus Six is equipped with some modern technology and will be displayed at the Geneva Motor Show.
The most important thing to know about the Morgan Plus Six is that it is not equipped with a V8 engine like its predecessor, but instead is a 3.0-liter engine using 6 cylinders in line. Not only that, the Plus Six is equipped with a BMW B B58 turbocharged engine – similarly equipped for the latest generation BMW Z4 and Toyota Supra – producing 335 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque.
Morgan Plus Six weighs only 1,075 kg. |
Combined with this engine is a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission that allows the Plus Six to reach a speed of 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds and a maximum speed of 267 km/h. Besides using a powerful engine and super transmission, the Plus Six also has a third factor that helps it achieve these figures: weight – this sports car weighs a mere 1,075 kg.
Using a rear-wheel drive system with ABS brakes, Morgan Plus Six is not equipped with a safety system.
The platform that makes up the Morgan Plus Six from a new aluminum and wood architecture is named CX. Morgan says that this architecture will underpin many of its future models, and it could support hybrid powertrains, electric powertrains, select safety systems, and even some autonomous driving technology. .
Morgan Plus Six combines two driving modes: Sport and Sport Plus. However, because the car is quite traditional, these modes only adjust throttle and transmission response times and do not have magnetic or hydraulic suspension.
In the interior, Plus Six is equipped with a large screen and a traditional cabin with wooden surfaces. As expected, Morgan will ship 300 Plus Six units/year with prices starting from £77,995 ($102,668).
