Coach Roberto Martínez organized an open training session on June 15 in the city of Gutersloh. Fans can be present outside the training ground to watch Ronaldo and his teammates play soccer.
According to Fox Sports, 6,000 free tickets were given to viewers who love the Portuguese team, but more than 50,000 people visited the ticket distribution page. These notes have been resold on various websites for up to 1,000 euros (27 million VND).
While the Portuguese team was practicing, an enthusiastic fan jumped over the fence and ran straight onto the field. After passing two security guards, this guy rushed to hug Ronaldo. Ronaldo allowed fans to take selfies with him before security took him away.
A few minutes later, about 10 more fans rushed into the field to approach the Portuguese players. Goalkeeper José Sa even rushed to “block” a fan running towards him.
Faced with a chaotic scene, police had to escort Cristiano Ronaldo and his teammates out of the training field. Fortunately, no Portuguese players were injured.
The Portuguese team is in Group F with Türkiye, Georgia and Czechia. Coach Martínez and his team will play the opening match of EURO 2024 against the Czech Republic at 2:00 a.m. on June 19. EURO 2024 will likely be Cristiano Ronaldo’s last international tournament with the Portuguese team.
